We continue to focus on making the maximum positive effort for our community, working together to provide solutions that make a long-lasting difference! Our amazing team of members and community volunteers are committed to helping others and supply the momentum that helps us affect change and success!
About the West Grey Durham Lions Club Bridge Project
The Lions club is currently working to renovate the trestle bridge located at the West end of the Lions Heritage park. The park is located at the corner of Hwy 6 and Garafraxa St at the base of the hill in Durham. The plans for renovation includes new gardening, bench seating, dark sky lighting, as well as historical and cultural signage. There will also be construction of the gathering plaza and the observation promontory. The plan is for this project to be complete in time for the Durham Homecoming in July 2022.
How can people donate to the bridge project?
We have a fund-raising plan that includes support options ranging in price from $25 up to $2000 and beyond.
For Example
- The $25 option allows for one 8 ½ X 11 sheet of paper with family/business history, favorite stories, photos, etc compiled by the donor to be placed in a 50 year Time Capsule in the Park. This will be opened in 2072, on the occasion of Durham’s 200th birthday.
- The $100 option provides for the name of two people who have contributed to the town on a plaque to be mounted in the park area.
Other donation options are shown in the image below. To make a donation please visit the website HERE
